NEW AND OLD PALACE OF PONFERRADA CASTLE
EU-funded project. The proposed intervention is based on the work of study undertaken in recent years and in a meticulous analysis of conserved ruins, walls, footprint of floors and roofs, etc.. With these data a project for recovering the volumes and the roofs of the palace built by the Count of Lemos late fifteenth-century is posed. The proposal includes museological areas, classrooms, cafeteria and a documentation center and library on military orders, the Templar Knights and the Camino de Santiago. Basically the materials of the intervention are wood and slate, recovering important footprint that in the castle had the wooden galleries and corridors, authentic precursors of the popular architecture from El Bierzo in the Middle Ages.
